Friends and family members often argue which side they prefer. The beach with its seven miles of sand, the salt in the air, the lively pubs, the to and fro of the waves,the burned bodies glistening with oils, the immense sea where the eye gets lost at the horizon,sandpipers, seagulls,  the sudden jet skies or power boats breaking the grandiose blue and green with foamy white lines, sea shells calling your attention, dolphins playfully hoping up and down, the ever changing sun sets brushing of red and orange the proud Sanibel island from afar ...or the back Bay or Estero Bay, calmer and much more peaceful, with manatees, preserves of raw nature and mangroves growing freely, with fewer sounds but morning doves, cardinals and engines at slow speeds and a lonely sail stiffens in the winds or fishermen anchored, seemingly slowing the relentless hunger of time or, some early dawn, the fog covering the still waters when blurry lights from the shrimp boats glimmer..almost eerie..living for the Gulf of Mexico like giant ghosts.
