LLoyd Nichols What does it cost to live next to Thomas Edison’s Winter Estate? It has been almost 100 years since Thomas Edison decided to make Fort Myers his own winter retreat and build a classical Florida home along McGregor: Thomas Edison & Ford Winter Estates . Since then this renowned area near 2350 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers 33901 is known as the Edison Park or The Historical District of Fort Myers. And yes living in such an area is affordable. prices start in the low to mid $100’s. Fort Myers owes much to Edison and Ford. Among a few: he was the first to have a swimming pool in 1910, electric light bulbs of course, the beautifying of Fort Myers with the majestic royal palms along our boulevards, ergo the name the City Of Palms, exotic and glorious plants, ….and above all with Ford they put Fort Myers on the map for good.Surprisingly living next to Thomas Edison’s home coat much less then one would think: Historic District homes
Since then many are drawn to this Historical area of Fort Myers which includes also such subdivision as Dean Park with its rich mix of different European architecture and Downtown Fort Myers or The River District:
Below is a link of homes for sale in Historic Edison Park and Dean Park: This link will be available for 30 days only. If for some reason you missed the dead line contact LLoyd at realtorlloydn@aol.com .This area is worth a closer look.

LLoyd Nichols June 10 Is Fairview Isles of Fort Myers Beach for you?Fairview Isles is neighborhood community located near the southern end of Fort Myers Beach. It is a real community within the island and when its Deed was drawn in 1958, it had certain clear rules and restrictions.
No homes for example should be less then 1000 square feet and should have a solid concrete foundation of at least 9 feet above mean low tide. Asbestos was and is not allowed…the list goes on and on but what stands out is a will from this community not to have any eye sores, including signs, except for professional reasons, temporary structures cannot be used as a temporary or permanent structure…. and no”noxious or loud activity of any kind “is allowed in this community of roughly 180 homes. Most homes are on canals with gulf access through the back bay of Fort Myers Beach or Estero Bay.
Residents of this area want owners and renters to keep their properties clean and don’t want anything “offensive” whatever that means.I think its common sense.
If you don’t like these rules then this community is not for you, but if you want to live in an area which is quieter and where people keep a neighborhood watch on top of the police rounds, and enjoy some boating to the gulf, fishing and are a few minutes to the beach, then this area is for you. It is a gorgeous area and the residents of this community intend to keep it that way.
The Fairview isles community sponsors a Christmas dinner party, a picnic spring meeting mostly open for business interaction and affairs regarding the community and of course are very active in the the Saint Patrick Day Parade. They may have rules but it does not mean that they don’t like to have fun!

I would be glad to show this great area and answer your questions. Its a great place to be. Following is a link to single homes available at Fairview Isles: and Happy Hunting!
LLoyd Nichols Short Tour Of Sanibel and fantastic property opportunitiesThere are few islands in Florida which can compare to Sanibel. These of you who have visited the well known barrier island did not forget the 15 miles of pristine beaches, and among others these beauties: The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge J.N."Ding" Darling, and the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation SCCF Two third of this magnificent island is protected so its not a surprise that Sanibel’s residents do not want to embrace the XXIst century like other areas of South West Florida and run their own affairs as a separate identity and community. Don’t be fooled by the idyllic and romantic physical aspect of the island. It is very modern but it is above all a “green” advocate. Not to mention great shelling, fishing, or using the over 4 miles and a half of trails along 1800 preserved acres. The residents of this island will do anything possible to preserve its natural habitat and will not stand for anything that disturbs it. Objectively, there have been some draw back to so much attention. ( continuing below the picture of the Old Post Office) There are over 200 different bird species in Sanibel. Above an Ibis and a Pelican. For these of you who want something else besides life around the beaches or boating, you will also enjoy some of the more artistic activities, whether you prefer the visual arts, dancing ,the theater or a good jazz concert at the Big Arts. You have the choice.Want some history and learn about Sanibel past? You may also get a kick out of the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village Sanibel Museum and tour some of well conserved private and public buildings in the center of the Sanibel Village.

As it became one of the most renowned islands in the USA, the days when it was a small community when a fisherman could afford to live there are gone. It is still a rather small community but beauty and quality of life comes with a price. Luckily, it is, these days, much more affordable and there are some great opportunities in Sanibel Real Estate. Gone are the days when one could not find a modest home for under $600,000. These days you may even find attractive island homes in the mid to high $200,000 and at times below if you move fast enough.
